How to Grow Zucchini in Your Garden

Growing zucchini is a great idea! This vegetable is very healthy, and it'll give you a great supply for this zucchini bread recipe. Check out these instructions on how to grow zucchini.

If you're planting zucchini seeds directly into the ground, you'll want to wait until the danger of frost has completely passed. If you have a short growing season in your area, you may want to start your zucchini plants indoors. If you choose to do this, sow them in pots about two to four weeks before you want to transplant them into the ground.

Zucchini is best planted mid-season, since it is vulnerable to early-season frost and pests. You'll want to plant seeds one inch deep, two to three inches apart, if you are starting them in the ground. Once you're done planting, thoroughly water the seeds. Then, cover with a layer of mulch.

Zucchini like moist soil, so be sure to water them frequently. Mulch them as needed. Most zucchini plants will take about 60 days to mature. Make sure you cut, rather than break, the zucchini off of the plant. Breaking the zucchini off could damage the plant. Make sure your harvest is complete before the first fall frost; otherwise, you risk losing your crop.

By following these instructions, you'll soon have a great crop of zucchini for making zucchini bread! You'll be able to enjoy this delicious treat all winter long, and you might even have some leftover to share with friends and family! Enjoy!
