You’ll Love This Awesome Pineapple and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

Everyone needs a good ham recipe. Ham is often the meat of choice for a Christmas dinner, but it can also make for a great family dinner any time of the year. If you're serving this ham recipe to your family, you'll more than likely have leftovers. You can heat those leftovers up for dinner tomorrow, or turn them into sandwiches for school and work.

This ham recipe doesn't have a lot of ingredients. It's also very simple to make. Some ham recipes are overly complicated, requiring you to spend more time than you want in the kitchen. The quicker you can get dinner on the table, the more free time you'll have to spend with family.

Pineapple is a common inclusion in ham recipes. The subtle sweetness of brown sugar will clash in the most delightful way with the strong acidity of the pineapple. Once you add these two flavors in, a regular ham becomes one of the tastiest dinners you've ever made.

Make sure you set aside enough time for this ham to cook. This is definitely not a weekday meal! Cook this ham on a Saturday or Sunday, when you have plenty of time to let it cook. Have your kids give you a hand with the preparation!

Pineapple and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon flour
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, with 3 Tablespoons of the juice set aside (drain the rest of juice)
1/2 Tablespoon cornstarch
1 large cooking bag for the oven
12 to 16 pound fully-cooked ham
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

1. Shake flour into the cooking bag. Place the bag in a large roasting pan at least 2 inches deep.

2. Lightly score the surface of ham in a diamond pattern. Place the ham into the cooking bag.

3. Combine pineapple, reserved pineapple juice, cornstarch, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in saucepan; stir and cook over medium-low heat until cornstarch dissolves.

4. Bring to a boil. Simmer 1 minute. Pour sauce over the ham in bag. Close the cooking bag.

5. Bake at 300 degrees F for 2-1/2 to 3 hours or until ham is fully heated through.
