Buttermilk Ranch Chicken

There are several ways you can make a buttermilk ranch chicken recipe. For this dish, we use breadcrumbs, dried basil leaves, sour cream, and, of course, buttermilk ranch salad dressing mix and chicken.

Of course, there are many variations on this recipe. Here are a few we recommend.

Buttermilk Ranch Oven-Fried Chicken: This requires both the ranch seasoning mix and buttermilk. Other ingredients include corn muffin mix, salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne. Start by combining the chicken with the seasoning and buttermilk in a large Ziploc bag. Refrigerate for anywhere between an hour and a day.

When the chicken is ready, put the cornmeal mix in a shallow bowl and dip the chicken in. Spray the top of the chicken and a baking pan with cooking spray and bake.

Buttermilk Ranch Chicken Tenders: This is another variation on the dish; it can make a great snack, or you can serve it with a side to make a meal in and of itself. Start by cutting the chicken into thin strips. Then put them in a bag with a cup of buttermilk and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Next, take two shallow bowls. Fill one with eggs and another with a mixture of flour, cornmeal, breadcrumbs, and ranch seasoning. Dip the chicken in the eggs and then the breadcrumbs. Double dip to make them extra crispy! Then, lay them out on a greased baking sheet with a bit of melted butter on them. Pop them in the oven and look forward to serving a meal the whole family can enjoy.

Other Buttermilk Baked Chicken Recipes

It is common for buttermilk to be used with breadcrumbs to make a fried chicken recipe, but if you are looking for something a bit lighter, buttermilk can also be used to add flavor to baked chicken. Here are some buttermilk baked chicken recipes you might enjoy.

Buttermilk roast chicken is a simple, yet delicious, recipe to make for your family. Give it flavor with garlic, peppercorns, rosemary, and honey. This combination of flavors creates a dish that is simultaneously spiced and sweet. The chicken should sit in the seasonings overnight, in the freezer. When you're ready to cook, bake until browned.

If you want a southern take on buttermilk chicken, try a recipe that uses buttermilk, flour, butter, salt, pepper, and mushroom soup. You'll first dip the chicken in the buttermilk, then the flour mixture. After this, bake it uncovered for 45 minutes. Turn it after 30 minutes. Cover it with the remaining buttermilk and cream of mushroom soup, bake for 15 more minutes, and enjoy.

Our last suggestion comes straight from Rachel Ray, so you know it's bound to be good. This recipe uses buttermilk, mayo, dried mustard, fresh chives, dried dill, salt, and pepper. Combine all of the ingredients to make a marinade, and let the chicken marinate for one day. When you're ready to cook, put the chicken in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown on both sides and serve.
