How to Store Leftover Chili

Even though this chili con carne recipe is amazing, there are going to be times when you're left with leftovers. Storing your leftover chili correctly is key to it lasting the right amount of time. By following our directions, you'll be able to keep your chili in tip-top condition!

Chili should be refrigerated within two hours of cooking. Try to put leftovers away as quickly as possible, to lower the chances of harmful bacteria multiplying. Store any leftover chili in an airtight, sealed plastic container. We recommend avoiding sealable bags, as these are more prone to spillage.

Once stored, chili con carne can keep for 3-4 days in the fridge or 4-6 months in the freezer. Thawed chili will keep for 3-4 days in the fridge. It's important to examine your chili con carne leftovers before reheating and consuming. Check for signs of mold, a bad odor, or an off-texture. If anything feels off to you, play it safe and discard the leftovers. You don't want to get food poisoning!
