You Need to Try Billy Bob’s Best Ribs Recipe

If you want to add a recipe to your cookbook that has a great name, this is it. This recipe isn't just for show with its name, however. It packs a flavorful punch! This is a wonderful ribs recipe for the summertime, in part due to its use of pineapple juice. This is a fairly unique ingredient when it comes to ribs recipes, and we think it works so well.

You'll also need to use the grill for this recipe, which is part of what makes it great for summer. Some families may be lucky enough to be able to grill all year, but for many the grill goes away by Labor Day. Enjoy the chance to have a great barbecue picnic while you can! You'll soon be dreaming of them when it's cold and blustery outside.

Use any barbecue sauce that you like with this recipe. If you're feeling ambitious or experimental, try making your own sauce! Definitely try this with just family first; they'll be more forgiving if your barbecue sauce doesn't turn out quite right!

For a side, you have a lot of options. We think coleslaw will work great with this recipe, due to its use of pineapple juice. Macaroni salad is another great option. If you want a warm side, you can never go wrong with macaroni and cheese. We know your kids would certainly agree! For dessert, make a chocolate cake or serve some warm brownies.

Billy Bob’s Best Ribs

Ingredients:

3 cups pineapple juice
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons mustard powder
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons ground ginger
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 pounds baby back pork ribs
1 (18 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce

Directions:

In a large baking dish, mix together the pineapple juice, brown sugar, mustard powder, ketchup, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, and soy sauce. Season with cloves, ginger, garlic, and cayenne pepper.

Cut ribs into serving size pieces, and place into the marinade. Cover, and refrigerate, turning occasionally, for 8 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Cook ribs in marinade for 1 1/2 hours, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Preheat grill for medium heat.

Lightly oil grate. Grill ribs for 15 to 20 minutes, basting with barbecue sauce, and turning frequently until nicely glazed.
