Try This Quick and Healthy Stuffed Turkey Burgers Recipe

With more Americans becoming health-conscious these days, turkey is becoming more and more popular. Turkey offers a lot of protein, but doesn't contain the calories and fat that beef does. While everyone loves a good beef burger, a turkey burger can be just as good.

This is especially the case when said turkey burger is stuffed with something delicious. This recipe for stuffed turkey burgers will stand on par with any beef burger recipe out there. It doesn't need a lot of ingredients, meaning it's as affordable as it is tasty.

Remember to preheat your broiler or grill before cooking. These burgers cook fast, so this is a dinner you can have on the table quick. When you have places to be and things to do, having a dinner recipe on hand that you can make quickly makes a huge difference.

Serve these turkey burgers with some fries for a classic combination, or with a side salad for a healthy dinner. We definitely know which one the kids would choose, but a salad will keep this meal from sliding into potentially unhealthy territory. Nonetheless, it's okay to indulge with some fries once in a while. Enjoy!

Stuffed Turkey Burgers

Ingredients:

1¼ pounds lean ground turkey*
½ cup chopped roasted red peppers, drained and rinsed if from a jar
½ cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese (2 ounces)
¼ teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper
4 whole-wheat buns

Directions:

1. Preheat the broiler or prepare the grill.

2. Divide the turkey into 4 equal-sized rounds. Make 2 equal-sized patties out of each round so you have 8 patties total. Sprinkle one side of the four patties with 2 tablespoons each of roasted red peppers and cheese, and top with remaining patties, working the turkey around the edges to seal the burgers closed. Sprinkle the patties with salt and a few grinds of pepper.

3. Grill or broil until cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Serve on the buns.
