Is The Scarsdale Diet Effective?

Questions have been raised recently over the effectiveness of the Scarsdale diet. The Scarsdale diet is one of the most intense dieting plans that someone can put themselves on. Restricting practitioners to 1,000 calories a day and only a handful of food groups, the Scarsdale diet claims it can help overweight individuals lose a large amount of weight in a very short timeframe.

Medical professionals have called the diet's effectiveness and safety into question. Research has shown that highly restrictive diets are generally ineffective. While they may help someone lose weight in the short term, over a longer period of time the diet often proves unsustainable. Those who practice it may very well find themselves gaining back the weight they initially lost.

When picking a dieting plan, it's important to be realistic about it. There are certainly people out there who found and sustained success with this dieting method, but that doesn't mean you will. The Scarsdale diet can put you at risk for nutritional deficiencies, so be sure to talk to your doctor about ensuring that doesn't happen.

Always do your research and pick a diet in tandem with a medical professional's advice. If you've decided that the Scarsdale diet works for you, then this turkey recipe will help you achieve your goals. We have several other great Scarsdale diet recipes on our site, so be sure to check them out!
