Generation FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT  - Ugh.   |2009-01-03 17:45:51
Artificial trees are so STUPID! I mean, if you want to be friendly to the environment and not cut down trees, fake ones are NOT the way to go. Live trees are extremely good to the environment, and they don't shed needles very often, so there's little mess. One can live in a pot for 6-7 years without any trouble. My family has been using them for years and after they've gone through their "career" and are ready for retirement, we plant them in the back yard. We have at least three out there.

We have a hardware store nearby that does an amazing Christmas Tree display every year, trees of every Yellow, decorated John Deere, Purple, decorated ballerina, Blue, decorated snowflakes, and the Black one decorated Steelers football one year and primitive another. They all look so nice, but I'm a traditionalist! When I think of a Christmas Tree I think of how Martin Luther decorated the evergreen he brought into his home, I try to add as much nature as possible. Love to look at the variety of trees, just not in my livingroom.

You have all other unnatural colors (gold, silver, etc.),so why not? I like it.
Helen  - Depends on the decor   |2008-12-23 18:27:57
It could be beautiful and festive or morbid and ugly, depending on how it is decorated. My office has a silver tree; alone it is hideous, but with the right ornaments (plain glass balls of varying sizes in blue, green, and gold) it is quite beautiful.
Thomas  - Stuning!   |2008-12-21 20:18:12
Black also symbolizes the dirt which then symbolizes the earth. I only know this because I just recently took a women studies class. I think the tree is beautiful. It all depends on the setting. In a nice modern home this tree would look sutning! I do also like the reg christmas tree for the smell...but they have candles that small just as good.
pandora  - I love it   |2008-12-21 06:46:34
This is a great tree.. love it, want one next year
Janice Ferrell  - Very Elegant   |2008-12-17 22:31:48
If done with good taste the tree could be very elegant in the right setting. It is a beautiful tree.
Travelled Mom  - Why?   |2008-12-17 14:03:23
Nope. Don't really like it. I think a more depressing color, if that's what the makers are going for, would be middle grey.
Classy in North Carolina  - Ebony Christmas trees   |2008-12-20 09:28:08
Step out of your box...I purchased an "Ebony" Christmas tree last year and EVERYONE who has had the opportunity to see it, absolutely loves it. Black is a color that you can match any color with....Grey? Now that is depressing! Don't knock anything until you try it. Open your mind and don't be afraid of change, untraditional things and new experiences.
sonia  - COLOR   |2008-12-16 21:49:08
Red, blue, green, white, pink, yellow, purple, what difference does it make what color it is? Christmas is in your heart and not about the color of a tree. If you don't like it then don't buy it!
Meredith McMillan  - It is okay.   |2008-12-15 17:32:26
Its okay but i wouldnt buy it it is a bit gothic and scary. I would prefer a white or green christmas tree.I mean christmas colors are red, green, white, or even blue but definetally not black.
Jerusha  - YULE tree   |2008-12-15 13:19:18
It's Pagan, not Christian, to decorate a evergreen tree around December's Winter Solstice. Just as it is Pagan to decorate eggs and celebrate the Great Hare around March's Spring Equinox.

Both of these holidays are Pagan based and adopted by the early Christians to smooth the road for the Pagan to Christian conversion.

I see the black tree as a Yule tree, it's color representing the time of stillness, the death of harvesting, the fallowness of the fields, the long dark nights of winter.

Skip the commercialism and get back to the root of it all.

A yule tree is the symbol of life within death, "ever green" through the harshest time of the year showing us hope for a green, abundant and fruitful spring (life).
Melissa  - pretty cool   |2008-12-13 16:45:19
I was planning to purchase one after the season when they go on sale. This will not be my family tree but will use it in my son's room for a Ga. Bulldog Tree-GO DAWGS- right now I have 8 trees up and decorated in my home, each with different themes. By the way, Christmas is about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, not a tree!
Jess  - Hate It   |2008-12-13 14:49:40
I don't like this tree. I know that there are many styles and themes for Christmas but a black tree??? What the heck? I think that it looks like it was burned in a forest fire, then somebody spent money on decorating the poor thing!!!
Jane  - I just bought one   |2008-12-11 15:20:58
This is my first Christmas in my new house and we have decided to get a black tree. Black has always been one of my favourite colours (even though technically black isn't a colour). We have use hot pink decorations only and it looks stunning.
Have a Happy and safe Christmas everyone!
texasstuck   |2008-12-10 15:40:40
I love, love, love this tree. I tend to not want the typical christmas. I love the silver, black, red, gold ornaments and bows. I cant stand the bright green, yellow, blue, decorations. its not dark or depressing. i really like the color black.
Brenda  - Black Christmas Tree   |2008-12-08 16:00:09
I love it. I had an upside down one last year so a black one would be just the ticket for me.
Amanda   |2008-12-07 18:51:55
I love it and I'm christian. Does that make me a religious freak freak?
danielle  - HATE IT   |2008-12-06 21:26:07
If you love it you are somed kind of weird creapy freak and hope you aren't reproducing off spring
becca   |2008-12-20 09:30:12
I think people who argue this tree is weird are pathetic. Christmas isn't about the colour of a christmas tree. It's about the birth of baby jesus, saviour of the world. Everyone celebrates christmas different as long as we remember the true meaning does it really matter?! What a silly suggestion to make that someone who has a black christmas tree should not have children.
Classy in North Carolina  - Ebony Christmas tree   |2008-12-20 09:32:04
Sounds like you are weird, creepy and a freak...and hopefully, you aren't producing any offspring. Judgemental are you? Wow, I thought that was only for God....Open your mind and soften your heart. Truthfully, it's not that serious.
Amy   |2008-12-03 11:26:50
Love it! Everyone else just buy what THEY like. And to all those religious freaks, Jesus Christ has nothing to do with a color of the tree. All those that think it's anti-christ are not being very christian. Christmas is not about what color your tree is. Go to church.
Guess what, put up a Nativity and call it a day.
c decker  - ugly tree!   |2008-11-29 20:47:31
I do not care for the black tree...the color black historically symbolizes death, mourning, and evil...which are the complete opposite of what christmas is about!
Kat  - Interesting.   |2008-12-24 16:46:51
I think it's great. It's non-traditional and I love it. As a mom of 6, and a Christian, I think this last comment isn't off base... it's not at all opposite of what Christmas is about... it is actually part of it. We're celebrating the birth of a man who would suffer death in the most gruesome way to save us. So yes, let us remember His life, and more importantly the death that brings us eternal life. That is ultimately the price paid for our sin. Let it be a reminder.
