You Need to Try This Unique Casserole Bread Recipe

This one might sound rather odd to you at first, but it isn't as out-there as it initially seems! This is simply a different way to make bread. Making bread is an art for many, and there's a good reason for that. It takes care and patience to make the best loaf of bread that you can!

This recipe may be more difficult than a lot of other bread recipes out there. It takes a little more precision to get it just right. Don't get too frustrated if it doesn't go as planned the first time; just dust yourself off and try again! One of the great things about bread is that it's always in high demand in every household.

Why Should I Make My Own Bread?

Many families prefer making their own bread for two reasons. One of those reasons is that it allows them to avoid the preservatives that are in many loaves of store-bought bread. While these preservatives are safe and exist for a reason, it's understandable that some families may want to reduce their intake.

The second reason is cost. It may initially be more expensive to buy all the ingredients, but over the long-term making your own bread is often cheaper. As long as you have the time and the equipment, there's no going wrong with making your own bread.

Making homemade bread isn't for everyone. Some families just don't have the time to make enough bread for each week, while others don't want to put in the effort. That's completely fine. Ultimately, you need to do what's right for your own family.

Even if you aren't making your own bread on the regular, however, you can still make it once in a while as a special treat. That's where amazing recipes like this one come into play. Check out this great casserole bread recipe!

Ingredients

Scale

1 (1/4 oz.) packet dry yeast
1/4 cup water, warmed to 115°F
1 cup large curd cottage cheese, heated to lukewarm
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon onion flakes
1 Tablespoon butter, softened to room temperature
2 teaspoons dill seed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 large egg
2 to 2 1/2 cups flour
Softened butter, for brushing
Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

1. Dissolve yeast in water and set aside in a warm place to proof for about 10 minutes. Mixture will  bubble when yeast is proofed.

2. Mix cottage cheese, sugar, onion flakes, butter, dill seed, salt, baking soda, egg, and proofed yeast in the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.

3. Add flour gradually, beating well after each addition, to make a stiff dough. Cover with a clean dish towel and allow to rise in a warm place until double in size, about 1 hour.

4. Punch down dough, and turn into well-buttered 8 inch round ovenproof casserole dish. Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

5. Set the oven rack in the middle position. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

6. Bake 40 to 50 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn bread out of dish, brush top with soft butter, and sprinkle with salt. Cool bread on rack for at least 10 minutes before serving. Store leftover bread wrapped in wax paper at room temperature.
