Other Activities Your Children Can Do

Stuck inside on a rainy day with bored children? Here are some ideas to keep them busy and out of your hair!

To start with, you should always aim to keep some craft supplies on hand. Construction paper, scissors, markers, crayons, colored pencils, watercolors and paintbrushes, a sponge painting kit, and Play-Doh are all supplies that you should have available for your kids to use on a rainy day.

If you have Play-Doh or a similar type of crafting clay on hand, grab a paper plate or a disposable cup and have your children decorate it with clay! They can shape a funny face on it, decorate it like an animal, or cover it with pretty colors. Whatever will stimulate their creativity and end their boredom.

Sometimes, a blank piece of paper and some colored pencils are all you need to keep a child entertained. Give them a piece of paper and a topic to draw under, like animals, food, or summer activities. If you want to make it challenging for them, give them a time limit to draw a complete picture. This will create a fun and exciting environment for them to draw in!

If you want a craft that will take up more of your children's time, while giving them something to play with after the fact, have them make some slime! Slime stimulates your child's fine motor skills in so many ways, both as they make it and as they play with it. You can make lots of different colors, or put fun things inside of the slime like glitter! Make sure your kids do this craft over a surface that's easily cleanable- definitely don't do this over a carpet!
