Other Crafts for Your Dragon or Fantasy Lover

If you're in search of other crafts for your dragon- or fantasy-loving child to do, we've got you covered! There are plenty of things that they can do that will satisfy their love of fantasy. Some will require more supplies than others, but a trip to the art store can be a fun excursion to do with your child!

Have them try drawing their own dragon or fantasy creature. Your child probably has a favorite piece of fantasy media; have them pull inspiration from that for their drawing! Or, have them design their own fantasy creature. The latter is a great way to stimulate their imagination. Give them colored pencils to use, or stick to crayons if those are easier for your child to handle. Once they're done, name the creature they drew and hang it up on the fridge!

Make a fantasy creature out of clay. If your child has a preference for 3D crafts, have them work with clay! You can use Play-doh or more traditional clay for this. If the clay needs to be baked in the oven, make sure your child understands that they are not to use the oven without your supervision. Air dry clay is best, if you can find it. If your child needs references, sit down together and find some fantasy creature images online. Print them off, and leave them with your child while they sculpt.

Draw a dragon face on a paper plate. Paper plates are very versatile when it comes to children's crafts. Have the dragon or fantasy lover in your family draw a dragon face on a paper plate. It can be as detailed or as simple as they want! This is a great way to teach your child about perspective, and to stimulate their imagination. If they want, add ears made out of felt or colored paper.

Paint a fantasy creature. Painting is a great way for your child to make a colorful representation of their favorite fantasy creature, or of a creature they themselves invented! Use watercolor or acrylic paint, whichever your child prefers. Make sure they have a cup of water handy for washing their paintbrush! If your child is too young to easily handle a paintbrush, grab some small sponges and have them use those instead. Once your child's painting is done, hang it up on the fridge for everyone to admire!
