Try This Awesome Peach Pork Chops with Buttered Brown Rice Recipe

Are you in search of a good summertime recipe that doesn't require you to heat up the grill? Grilling is a lot of fun, and it's something Americans do a lot of in the summer. Sometimes, though, you just want to stay indoors. Or, maybe you have to, due to inclement weather or excessive heat.

This recipe brings the taste of summer into your house with its use of peach preserves. Peach pork chops is certainly an inventive idea, but it's one that works brilliantly. Brown rice is often favored over white rice, so we've chosen to add it to this recipe as a side.

Pork chops are packed with protein. Protein is famous for helping build muscle, but it also plays a crucial role in weight loss. Whether you're trying to feed hungry athletes or shed some pounds, adding extra protein to your diet can be a real benefit.

Feel free to substitute out the brown rice for whatever other side dish you want to serve. Corn on the cob is a great way to keep the summer theme. Roasted vegetables are a great choice, too. Or, if you want to go all-out, make some mac and cheese. The kids will surely appreciate it!

Peach Pork Chops with Buttered Brown Rice

Ingredients:

½ cup peach preserves
1 garlic clove, finely minced
2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
2 Tablespoons orange juice
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
4 (5 ounce) thin-cut bone-in pork chops
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 cups cooked brown rice, buttered

Directions:

1. Combine the peach preserves, garlic, mustard, soy sauce, orange juice, and crushed red pepper in a small bowl.

2. Sprinkle pork chops with salt and pepper.

3. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Saute the pork chops until browned and cooked through, 4 to 5 minutes on each side.

4. Transfer to a plate cover to keep warm.

5. Add the peach mixture to skillet; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until the sauce thickens slightly (about 3 minutes).

6. Spoon sauce over the pork chops. Serve with the buttered brown rice. Makes 4 servings.
