Fish always makes a great staple for any meal. It is healthy and light and it provides a base that can work with a variety of seasonings and sides.

The recipe we have here is for baked fish with a soup and sour cream sauce and a breading that consists of breadcrumbs or cracker crumbs and poppy seeds.

The recipe is relatively simple to make. All you need to do is put the fish in a casserole dish, top with the sauce, add the breadcrumbs and bake.

Read on to find out more about what you can do with your fish dishes.

Baked Fish with Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs are great with fish because they give it a crispy outer layer that works perfectly with the moist tenderness of the fish. They also make for a heartier meal overall.

In this recipe, we recommend using either buttered crumbs or cracker crumbs. Buttered crumbs are made by mixing breadcrumbs with butter.

This adds to their flavor and makes them crunch longer. It is the perfect way to make your dish even crisper and tastier.

Cracker crumbs are another option that some prefer to breadcrumbs. It makes for a lighter, crispier crunch that works especially well when breading fish fillets.

If you enjoy your fish with breadcrumbs, here are some great recipe ideas:

Parmesan Crusted Baked Fish: This recipe involves coating fish in a mixture made of milk, salt, breadcrumbs, paprika, parmesan cheese and butter. Then, just put in the oven to bake!

Oven Baked Fish with Herbed Breadcrumbs: For this recipe, breadcrumbs are made in a food processor using bread, parsley and thyme. Smear the top of the filet with butter so breadcrumbs are able to stick. Add breadcrumbs and bake to perfection.

Baked Fish with Breadcrumbs: Though the name might not give it away, this is an elevated dish that uses a mix of breadcrumbs and almonds. Scallions and lemon juice are added to make this recipe one that is worthy of being served in some of the most elegant restaurants.

Baked Fish Ideas

Baked fish can be served with breading or without. Some will prefer non-breaded dishes as they are lower in calorie and can also open up more possibilities when it comes to the flavorings that can be added.

Baked Lemon Butter Tilapia: This easy to make dish requires butter, garlic, lemon juice and zest, parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Flavor with salt and pepper and coat with a mixture of the remaining ingredients for a light, melt in your mouth taste.

Baked Fish with Lemon Cream Sauce: This is another simple dish. The cream sauce is made by mixing cream, garlic, butter, mustard and lemon juice. Then just pour over the fish and bake.

Baked Fish with Thyme-Dijon Topping: Use a grouper or another type of mild fish as the base for this dish. The topping is made by combining parsley, mustard, thyme and a red hot pepper sauce that gives the fish a great spicy kick.

Mediterranean Baked Fish Recipe with Tomatoes and Capers: Give your fish a Mediterranean flavor with a tomato caper sauce.

Additional ingredients include onions, tomatoes, garlic, peppers, capers and, believe it or not, raisins. All these ingredients come together by adding spices like coriander, paprika, cumin and pepper. And let’s not forget the lemon zest!

Baked fish is a great base for any meal and it’s extremely versatile. With all the meal ideas, your biggest problem may be deciding which one you’ll be preparing for your family tonight.
