You Need to Try This Pretzel-Crusted Honey Mustard Chicken Recipe

Honey mustard is a flavor combination everyone loves with chicken. Kids especially seem to love the flavor of honey mustard, so this is sure to be a hit with your family. Parents always want to prepare something that they know their kids will eat without fuss.

Pretzels are also an increasingly popular substitute for or addition to bread and bread coating. We're personally a big fan of pretzel buns and are always happy when we see them on a restaurant menu. It almost guarantees that we'll choose the option to have a pretzel bun with our sandwich.

This recipe combines the delicious taste of pretzel crust with honey mustard and chicken. It brings together several great taste combinations to make one dish that’s delicious in every way. If you think your kids already liked honey mustard, they’ll love it even more with the satisfying crunch of pretzels added.

But unlike some other kid-friendly meals, this is one where you won’t have to suffer through a less than satisfying meal for yourself. You can happily enjoy this meal along with your kids because it’s a sure-fire winning dish.

Pretzel Crusted Honey Mustard Chicken

We don’t know about you, but one of the first things we consider when planning a meal list is how much prep and cooking time a dish requires. For example, many families love a good brisket, but it rarely makes the meal list because it requires hours of cooking time. If there’s something we like that’s time-consuming, we either look for short cuts (such as with lasagna) or find a way to make it in the slow cooker.

This recipe for pretzel crusted honey mustard chicken is a star because it’s as easy to make as it is delicious. It has a short cook time, which means you don’t have to spend a lot of time cooking. This also means that it’s something we can have even on busy days when there isn’t a lot of time to spare.

The more finely you crush the pretzels, the better they will stick to the chicken. But it’s also okay if you don’t take the time to get the pieces super small, either: it’s still good either way.

Pretzel Chicken Recipe

Any good pretzel chicken recipe needs to make sure that the chicken stays moist and juicy. This recipe achieves that in part because the pretzel coating seals in the moisture. The satisfying crunch of the pretzels gives the dish an appealing texture that you and your family will love.

Honey mustard isn’t just a good flavor combination with chicken, though. It’s also great with pretzels on its own. Add the three together and you have a dish that will be memorable and delicious. Your taste buds will think they’ve died and gone to heaven.

You could always make your own honey mustard if you have the time or forget ingredients at the store. Honey mustard is itself pretty easy to make: just combine 3 tablespoons of honey with 2 tablespoons of mustard.

But because our goal is to give you recipes that are time-savers so you can spend more time with your family and less time cooking, this recipe saves you the step of making honey mustard. When you buy a jar of already prepared honey mustard, the recipe becomes even easier and quicker to make.

You don’t want a meal that’s just easy to prepare if it’s going to require a long time cleaning up the kitchen afterward. That’s another way in which this recipe is a total winner: cleanup will be about as quick and easy as cooking it was.

Meals that are simple to prepare and clean up from are the dream of every busy parent. Add this pretzel chicken recipe to your meal list and everyone will be happy.

Can Your Kids Help With This Recipe?

The most complicated part of this recipe is crushing the pretzels for the coating. Even this normally doesn’t take a lot of time. But there are even ways to cut down the time involved in this step, too. You can either do it in advance while watching TV or get the kids to help.

There’s something kids find to be a lot of fun about crushing up a lot of pretzels! The more you can get the kids involved in cooking, the better; not just because it’s fun for them but also because it saves you time. Getting kids involved in cooking may give them a desire to later start cooking family meals as teenagers, or at least it will create fun childhood memories.

In addition, it will provide your kids with important skills for when they're adults themselves. Many kids grow up not knowing how to cook. This leaves them scratching their heads and turning to YouTube to figure out how to cook.

By including your children in the kitchen when you can, you'll help them grow up to be well-equipped adults. Plus, they'll be much more interested in what they're going to eat. Kids always seem to be more invested in the meals they help prepare!
