2 large cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 ½ quarts water
¼ cup white corn meal

How to Deal With a Hot Mouth After Eating Spicy Food

Whether or not you'll find this chili spicy will be determined by your personal spice tolerance. It's good to be prepared with the knowledge on how to deal with a mouth that feels like it's on fire! We've got all the tips you'll need.

First, resist the temptation to reach for a glass of water. The compound that makes spicy food spicy is oil-based, so it won't be affected by water. If you've ever wondered why the spiciness just seems to get worse after drinking water, this is why. All you're doing is swishing the spicy compound around your mouth.

Instead, go for a dairy drink. Milk or a yogurt-based drink are great options. Dairy contains a compound that helps neutralize heat. This will help bring your mouth back to a base point, so that you can recover. Have some milk on hand if you anticipate having an issue with this chili.

If you don't have dairy available or you don't care for it, then try something acidic instead. An acidic drink will have the same effect as dairy. Orange juice is a great option here. Or, pick whatever other acidic drink you want.
