Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

Ingredients:

1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
5 medium potatoes, peeled and thickly sliced
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Sauce Ingredients:

1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 cups whole milk
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
3 cups boneless smoked ham, cubed

Directions:

1. Combine water and cream of tartar in large bowl. Stir and add potatoes. Stir well, drain.

2. Layer potatoes and onion in a crock pot (5 quart) and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Sauce Directions:

1. Stir flour, salt, and pepper together in a saucepan. Wisk in milk gradually until no lumps remain.

2. Heat and stir until boiling. Pour 1/2 of sauce over potatoes. Sprinkle cheese and ham over top, then top that with remaining sauce.

3. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 9 hours.
