You Need to Try This Easy Smothered Steak Recipe

Smothered steak is an excellent dish to serve on your table. With the right recipe, your family will enjoy dinner like never before. This recipe for smothered steak is among the best, with just the right ingredients and easy to follow steps.

This smothered steak recipe is cooked in a slow cooker, meaning it's beyond easy to make. All you need to do is add the ingredients in the correct order, turn the slow cooker on either low or high, and cook. This recipe will take seven to eight hours to finish cooking on low, and four hours on high.

There is often debate in the cooking community over whether meat should ever be cooked on high in a crock pot. Some recipes will exclude the option entirely, insisting that its ingredients be cooked on low. The reason for this debate boils down to tenderizing the meat.

Many believe that meat can only tenderize properly in a slow cooker set to low. Since many crock pot recipes use tougher cuts of meat, proper tenderization is important. However, other cooks believe that the difference between the two settings is negligible.

Ultimately, the decision is up to you. You may not have the time in your day to let a meal cook for seven to eight hours. Maybe you fall into the camp that believe meat should never be slow-cooked on high. Regardless, we've provided cook times for both settings so the choice can be yours to make.
