Try This Unique Corn, Bacon, and Green Onion Tart Recipe

When we think of food combinations, we don't usually think of corn, bacon, and onion together. While this combo may sound a little out of the ordinary, once you try this recipe you'll see why it works so well. It isn't hard to make this tart, so this is a recipe you can keep on hand for busy and stressful times.

Applewood-smoked bacon is our bacon of choice for this recipe. The flavor that this type of bacon has really helps make this dish shine. You'll ideally want fresh corn kernels for this recipe, but if you're unable to find fresh corn canned corn can work.

Using reduced-fat milk will help keep the calorie and fat content of this recipe down to reasonable levels. If you can find fresh Parmesan cheese, that's great. Fresh cheese is always better than packaged cheese. If you can't, or if you just don't have the time to, grate your own cheese, pre-grated cheese is fine.

This recipe can be made in just three steps. Being able to put a meal together for your family as efficiently as possible is crucial if you want to live as stress-free as possible. Corn, Bacon, and Green Onion Tart

Ingredients:

2 slices Applewood-smoked bacon, chopped
2 cups fresh corn kernels (about 4 ears)
½ cup green onions
1 cup 2% reduced-fat milk
¼ cup (1 ounce) grated fresh Parmesan cheese, divided
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 large egg whites, lightly beaten
1 large egg, lightly beaten
Cooking spray
1 (13.8 ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°.

2. Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Add corn and green onions; sauté 3 minutes. Place corn mixture in a large bowl. Add milk, 2 tablespoons cheese, salt, pepper, egg whites, and egg; stir until well blended.

3. Coat a 10 ½-inch round removable-bottom tart pan lightly with cooking spray. Unroll dough onto a lightly floured surface; let rest 5 minutes. Pat dough into bottom and up sides of prepared pan. Place pan on a baking sheet. Pour bacon mixture into dough; sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons cheese. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes on a wire rack.
