How to Have Your Kids Help With This Recipe

Since this recipe is so easy, your kids can absolutely help you with it! Having your kids help you cook is beneficial for so many reasons. Not only will you make some lasting memories together, but your kids will learn very important life skills in the process. Gone are the days when only the girls cooked- in modern times it is expected that both boys and girls will know how to cook.

With this recipe, your kids can help you by prepping the kitchen. Have them get all of the ingredients together. This is a great opportunity for you to teach them about the basics of pasta making. Fill a pot with water, boil the water, add salt, add pasta, cook, drain. The sooner they get those steps down, the sooner they'll be well on their way to success in the kitchen!

Avoid having your children drain the pasta. There really isn't a learning moment here, so they won't miss anything. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to lift a pot and dump the contents! While hands-on learning is great, when it comes to something that could burn them you want to play it safe.

Always remember to enforce kitchen safety with your kids. Tell them that they need to remain calm when they're around hot and sharp objects. No running or rough-housing. Teach them how to act around hot and sharp things, especially the stove. Make sure to drill it into their heads that burns are no joke!
