Sesame Chicken and Rice

You’ll Love This Sesame Chicken and Rice Recipe

This sesame chicken and rice recipe requires a bit more effort than a lot of our other chicken recipes, but you'll be happy you took the time to do it. This will be one of those recipes that you return to again and again- probably because your family keeps asking you to!

Make sure to wash your rice before cooking. Washing your rice will remove excess starch and any debris that might be left over from processing. Even if you can't see it, your rice could still have some dust or other unwanted stuff on it. By removing the extra starch, you'll allow your rice to become soft and fluffy.

The only time you don't want to wash your rice is if it is enriched with vitamins and minerals, or if the packaging tells you not to rinse it. Rinsing enriched rice will remove many of the vitamins and minerals, negating the added benefit. Otherwise, rinse and cook!

If you enjoy this recipe, you need to take a look at our other chicken recipes. We have a lot of quick and easy chicken dinners that will leave your taste buds and your wallet satisfied! We aim to provide recipes for all kinds of cooks and tastes, so you'll definitely find something to suit your needs.

Sesame Chicken and Rice

Ingredients:

4 chicken breast halves, skinned and boned
Flour (enough to lightly coat chicken)
2 Tablespoons olive oil
¼ cup light soy sauce
2 Tablespoons sherry
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons sesame seed
Long grain white rice for serving

Directions:

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Rinse chicken and pat dry.

2.  Coat chicken with flour; shake off the excess.

3.  Heat oil in a large skillet and quickly brown chicken, turning once.

4.  Place chicken in an 11×7 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake 15 minutes.

5.  While chicken is cooking, combine the soy sauce, sherry, and sugar in a small bowl. Stir until fully combined. Prepare white rice according to package directions.

6.  When chicken has baked for 15 minutes, baste with sauce and continue baking 15 minutes longer or until cooked through, basting every 5 minutes. Remove chicken from oven and sprinkle with sesame seed.

Serve chicken with rice.  Makes 4 servings.
