Grilled pork ribs on wooden plate

Try This Unique and Easy Apricot-Glazed Spareribs Recipe

Spareribs are one of the most popular ways to eat meat. When cooked correctly, spareribs are extremely tender and flavorful. This recipe introduces even more flavor with the use of an apricot glaze. Apricot isn't too common in barbecue recipes, so we wanted to give it an opportunity to shine.

This recipe takes some additional prep work compared to a lot of other barbecue recipes, but the end result is definitely worth it. This recipe is best prepared on a weekend, when you have the time to get the spareribs ready. Double-check that you have a large enough pot or Dutch oven to accommodate the ribs.

It's important to give the grill sufficient time to heat up. Failing to properly preheat the grill may result in unevenly-cooked spareribs. You want the meat to be as tender and delicious as possible, so take care to do every step correctly! These spareribs will go great with any classic barbecue side dish, but we think coleslaw is an especially good bet.

The tanginess of coleslaw will brilliantly contrast the sweet taste of the apricot glaze. The two flavors won't clash in a way that's unappetizing. Rather, you'll have a delightfully bold meal that your family will continue to talk about long after it's done. Enjoy!

Apricot-Glazed Spareribs Recipe

Ingredients:

6 pounds pork spareribs cut into 2-rib portions
4 cloves garlic, crushed
Water
1 cup apricot preserves
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

In very large saucepot or Dutch oven, combine pork spareribs and garlic; cover with water.

Over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer one hour or until spareribs are fork-tender. Remove ribs to platter; cover and refrigerate.

Meanwhile, prepare apricot glaze. Combine preserves, onion, ketchup, brown sugar, oil, soy sauce, ginger and salt in small saucepan; mix well. Heat to boiling; boil 1 minute.

Cover and refrigerate apricot glaze.

About 1 hour before serving, heat grill. When ready to barbecue, place cooked spareribs on grill over medium heat. Cook 12 to 15 minutes or until heated through, turning spareribs often. Brush occasionally with apricot glaze during last 10 minutes of cooking.
