Kids Will Love This Pizza Pinwheels Recipe

Looking for a recipe that is simpler than pizza but still similar enough to scratch that itch? This pizza pinwheels recipe is for you! These pizza pinwheels can work as a great lunch or a quick dinner. Make them in advance and put them in your kids' lunches, or have them on the weekends for a special treat.

These pizza pinwheels can also make a great after-school snack. If your kids are old enough, they can even re-heat them on their own. Keep them in an accessible place in the fridge for when hungry kids first get home from school.

You'll be using refrigerated crescent roll dough for this recipe, rather than standard pizza dough. The texture of each pinwheel will be soft and fluffy. Kids will love this dish since they can use their hands to eat each pinwheel.

If you want and your kids are old enough, have them help you with this recipe. It's a great way for them to learn about how to take a dish, in this case pizza, and use it to create something new. Any lesson they learn in the kitchen will be a beneficial one as they get older and begin cooking on their own. Let's take a look at this great recipe.

Pizza Pinwheels

Ingredients:

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (2 oz.)
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 egg yolk
1 can (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 egg white, beaten

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, mix cheese, pepperoni, oregano, and egg yolk.

2. Unroll crescent roll dough; separate dough into 4 rectangles. Firmly press perforations to seal.

3. Spread each rectangle with about 3 tablespoons pepperoni mixture. Starting at shortest side, roll up each rectangle; pinch edges to seal.

4. Cut each roll into 6 slices. Place, cut side down, 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush with beaten egg white.

5. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
