Tips for Picking a Baby Name
Picking a baby name can be quite tough. With so many options out there, how can you pick the one that's right for your child? By following our tips, you can make the process easier for yourself.
First, don't overwhelm yourself with too many choices. There are tons of fantastic names out there, but giving yourself a list of 300 names to go through isn't going to help you! Limit yourself to 50-100 options. That's more than enough to make a decision. If for some reason you don't pick a name out of all of those choices, simply make a new list.
Second, be careful about naming your child after a family member. While it may seem like a sweet gesture at first, it can create unwanted family drama. Think about how your family members will react to you naming your child after someone other than them. Some family will be fine, others will not. You do not need to bring unnecessary stress on yourself when you're a new parent.
Finally, don't be afraid to ask a close friend or two for their input if you're struggling to decide. Don't give them a whole laundry list of names, but two or three are just fine. Remember that you don't have to follow their opinion if you don't want to! This is your child, so ultimately what you name them is up to you. Just make sure it isn't something too outlandish; you do not want to bring unnecessary teasing upon your child as they grow.
