Is MSG Safe?

You've likely heard or read about the supposed dangers of MSG. But is it really something to be worried about? We've got the answer here for you.

MSG is an additive that helps give food flavor. It has been used for years. The FDA has received reports of people suffering from various symptoms after consuming foods containing MSG, including a headache, sweating, nausea, and weakness. Research has not, however, found a conclusive link between MSG and these symptoms.

Rather than MSG being a bad thing for anyone to consume, it is thought that only some people may have an adverse reaction to it. It is similar to those who have allergies or insensitivities to other foods. You don't avoid milk or nuts just because some people have adverse reactions to them, so why would you avoid MSG?

A lot of the fear surrounding MSG is linked to other fears about artificial flavors and other additives. While it is true that some artificial additives are not great for consumption, we think MSG is perfectly safe to use and consume. As with everything else, moderation is key.
