Kids Will Love This Magical Cake Hunt Game

What could be more fun than searching for the ultimate prize—the birthday cake! This entertaining game will give the kids a creative way to get ready to eat the cake. They will need to be sleuths and use their problem-solving skills to figure out the clues. The hunt or the birthday cake is on!

The Magical Cake Hunt Game

Things you'll need:

  • Index cards
  • Pen or pencil
  • A cake

Before the guests arrive:

Step 1: Write clues on the index cards. The clue at each location should lead them to the next clue. Perhaps the first clue is at the kitchen sink, and that clue leads them to the second clue at the living room couch, and so on. An easy way to create all the clues is to start writing them from the cake table and work backwards. The final clue should direct them to the cake table.

Step 2: Keep the cake hidden close to the cake table.

When the guests arrive:

Step 1: Tell the guests that the wicked queen has stolen the birthday cake, and they must find it! Explain that she has left a trail of clues for them to follow. Read the first clue out loud, and send them on their way.

Step 2: When the guests are a clue or two away from finding the cake, put it on the cake table so it's there when they figure out the last clue.

Step 3: When they find the cake, sing happy birthday and serve.

Additional Birthday Party Ideas

The magical cake hunt game can easily be a part of any birthday party theme because the story of how the cake was stolen can be tailored to the theme. For example, if you are having a western birthday party, the outlaws are the ones who stole the cake. The clues can also incorporate the theme of the party and tell a story about how the cake was stolen. Be creative and have fun!

You can play other party games and have activity stations, saving the magical cake hunt game for the finale. A couple activity station ideas include a coloring page station and a mask decorating station. Another idea is to have a cupcake decorating station and use the cupcakes instead of a cake for the magical cake hunt.
