Mom’s Meatloaf

This recipe is a family favorite in our house. I grew up eating it, and now I enjoy serving it to my own kids. 


Units Scale


  • 1 1/2 lbs ground chuck
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 onion grated
  • 1/2 can tomato sauce
  • salt & pepper to taste


  • 1/2 can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp prepared (yellow) mustard
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar


  1. Turn on the oven broiler.
  2. Mix all loaf ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Transfer ingredients to a greased baking pan, and form a loaf.
  4. Brown lightly under broiler, and remove from oven.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  6. Combine all gravy ingredients in a separate bowl and pour over browned loaf.
  7. Back at 350 degrees F for one hour, basting every 10 minutes.
