6 Affordable Arts and Crafts Ideas

Repurpose:

Turn old pillowcases into smocks for the kids to use during messy arts and crafts. Just cut a hole on each side for the arms and a larger one up top for their head.

Use old flannel sheets or a shirt to make a flannel board. Cover a large piece of cardboard in the flannel. Cut shapes form felt, such as squares, circles, triangles, letters, numbers, etc.

Revamp:

Give dried up markers a second life by dipping the tip into water or vinegar for 5 to 10 seconds.

Use broken and dull crayons to create fun shaped crayons. Preheat the oven to 250°F. Remove paper and break crayons into small pieces to fill the cavities on a silicone mold. Place in the oven until crayons melt (about 20 minutes). Let cool at room temperature or in the fridge, pop out and use.

Make Your Own:

Easy DIY Edible Finger Paint
Mix one envelope of unflavored gelatin softened in ¼ cup warm water and set aside. Mix 3 Tbsp granulated sugar and ½ cup cornstarch. Add 2 cups cold water and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick. Remove from heat and add softened gelatin. Divide into as many portions as you have food coloring (4 to 5 is best). Add food coloring to each portion.

Edible Necklaces
Thread cheerios, fruit loops, pretzels, etc. onto yarn and wear as a necklace to snack on while watching a movie.
