Many fast-food restaurants and other establishments launch seasonal menu items this time of year. From the Starbucks holiday beverage menu to the launch of Chick-fil-A's peppermint shake, there are plenty of things to look forward to. This year, KFC is joining in on the fun with the launch of an affordable festive feast, designed to replace your Thanksgiving meal.
According to the recent press release, 37% of Americans now order takeout or delivery instead of cooking for Thanksgiving. KFC provides an option for those trying to skip the turkey. The Extra Crispy Festive Feast is a part of the "Cluck Turkey" campaign, which encourages customers to skip the holiday bird and enjoy a meal from KFC instead.
However, the festive feast isn't the only recent excitement happening at KFC. The Personal Pot Pie is back on the KFC menu. This announcement comes only months after two other popular menu items returned to the KFC menu back in August: Hot & Spicy Wings and Potato Wedges.
The Potato Wedges at KFC have always been a popular side for many customers, but they were discontinued in 2020. The Hot & Spicy Wings were also discontinued several years ago. However, due to popular demand, the fast food chain is bringing back both items.
In honor of these menu items making their way back to KFC, we've created a list of all our favorite menu items that have made a comeback to fast-food restaurants. We'll also give you the details you need about the Extra Crispy Festive Feast from KFC. So, get ready to enjoy a trip down memory lane with these tasty fast-food items.
This post was updated in November 2025 to include new information about items launching at KFC.
Get Ready for the Extra Crispy Festive Feast
Considering how many Americans now choose to order takeout or delivery on Thanksgiving Day, it makes sense that KFC would see this as an opportunity to promote its tasty fried chicken and sides.
The Extra Crispy Festive Feast is part of the "Cluck Turkey" campaign, which encourages customers to ditch the Thanksgiving turkey and eat at KFC instead.
What's Included?
The Extra Crispy Festive Feast at KFC is just $25 and includes:
- 8-piece bucket of Extra Crispy fried chicken
- Biscuits
- Two large sides of mashed potatoes
- Three sides of 8-oz gravy
The feast also includes a brand new Gravy Flight, featuring three flavors: Signature Brown, White Peppercorn, and Southwest Cheddar Gravy.
The Returning Personal Pot Pie
The holiday menu at KFC also brings the return of the Personal Pot Pie. This holiday favorite is available now for only $4.99. It's flaky, filling, and comforting — the perfect holiday meal if you're looking for something that reminds you of home.
Our Favorite Menu Items That Have Made a Comeback
While KFC recently brought back two other menu items, the Hot & Spicy Wings and Potato Wedges, these aren't the only fast food items that have made a comeback. Here are some of our favorite items that have returned to fast food menus.
Taco Bell: Mexican Pizza
The Mexican Pizza is a favorite menu item at Taco Bell, but it was temporarily discontinued back in 2020. According to Taco Bell, the Mexican Pizza now has a permanent spot on the menu.
Why We Love It
The Mexican Pizza hits the spot when you're looking for something other than a taco or burrito. It comes in the original version, which includes seasoned beef, or you can order a Veggie Mexican Pizza. (If you want to make one at home, try our Mexican Pizza Copycat Recipe.)
Burger King: Chicken Fries
Burger King tried to get rid of the Chicken Fries back in 2012, replacing them with the new Chicken Strips. However, the Chicken Fries returned in 2014 and became a permanent part of the menu in 2015.
Why We Love It
The Burger King Chicken Fries are an iconic menu item we can't get enough of. They're easy to eat on the go, kids love them, and they're perfect for dipping in whatever sauce your heart desires.
McDonald's: McRib
The McRib is probably the most talked-about and sought-after menu item at McDonald's. It has a long history, dating back to the 1980s when the McRib first appeared on the McDonald's menu.
Why We Love It
After its initial release, the McRib was removed from the national menu in 1985, though it remained available in some markets and internationally. Since then, it has periodically returned to the U.S. menu for limited-time promotions. When it returns for a limited time, it's hard to resist this nostalgic item and the tasty barbecue sauce it's drenched in.
Burger King: Cini-Minis
Anyone who visited Burger King in the 90s remembers this delicious treat. The bite-sized cinnamon rolls, known as Cini Minis at Burger King, were a popular dessert that was discontinued in 2012.
Why We Love It
What's not to love about mini cinnamon rolls? In 2024, Burger King announced it would be bringing back the Cini Minis, complete with a side of icing, but not at every location. As of June 2025, Cini Minis have only returned to Burger King locations in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, FL, with no confirmed availability elsewhere (though we can dream!)
Chick-fil-A: Side Salad
The Chick-fil-A Side Salad was supposed to be removed from the menu in 2023, but fans of this side weren't having it. Chick-fil-A went back on the decision and chose to continue serving it.
Why We Love It
Chick-fil-A waffle fries are a crowd-pleaser, but when you're looking for something a little healthier, the side salad is a good option. With the included Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing, this side has 470 calories. For a lower-calorie option, you can substitute with the Light Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing or the Light Italian Dressing.
McDonald's: Spicy Chicken Nuggets
McDonald's chicken nuggets are already a popular item, but the Spicy McNuggets add another level of flavor to this tasty menu item.
Why We Love It
Much like the classic McNuggets, they're breaded in a crispy coating and best dipped in sauce. However, these nuggets have an extra kick. As of June 2025, this item is available at select locations as a limited-time offer, but according to McDonald's.
