Life today looks very different from how it did just 10, 20, or even 30 years ago. Advances in technology, changes in infrastructure, and evolving social norms have reshaped everyday life. Go back more than 70 years, and the contrast becomes even more striking. Parents raising children in the 1950s faced challenges that were far removed from those modern families experience today.

The mid-20th century was often seen as a simpler era, with fewer scheduled activities and less outside pressure on families. Children spent much of their time playing outdoors without constant supervision or digital distractions. At the same time, many of the safety advancements parents rely on today, such as car seats and modern childproofing, simply did not exist. Take a closer look at what parenting was really like in the 1950s.
