Live Well for Less in This Scenic Hot Springs Town With Homes from $112,500 Some people travel across the country to relax in hot springs, but what if you could live near one instead? These natural "jacuzzis" offer a peaceful escape from everyday stress, and surprisingly, many hot springs towns in the U.S. still have affordable homes.
To find the most budget-friendly places, Moms Who Think looked at five years of data from the U.S. Census Bureau, comparing home prices and income levels. They focused on towns with at least 4,000 residents and access to multiple hot springs within 25 miles, based on available data. The result? A list of scenic spots where you can soak your stress away, without breaking the bank.
Thermal springs locations are from the National Centers for Environmental Information of the NOAA. Data was aggregated from points to cities, towns, and villages using spatial boundaries from the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER/Line shapefile program. City, town, and village boundaries are current as of 2022. Data on population is also from the U.S. Census Bureau ACS and is for 2022. All spatial analysis was conducted in GIS.
We've also included the rating from Niche.com for every town or surrounding area. This grade is determined based on an analysis of factors such as cost of living, diversity, and crime and safety.
