Check Your Freezer for This Recalled Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream

Jeni’s is no ordinary ice cream brand. Founded by James Beard Award winner Jeni Britton in 2002, this brand utilizes fresh milk from family dairy farms and Fair Trade ingredients to craft some of the most delicious and distinctive flavors. Jeni’s has only grown in the 22 years they’ve been in business, and you can now find these delicious and creamy flavors across the country.

However, despite the uniqueness of this ice cream brand, it's not immune to the risks that come with manufacturing. Recently, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream announced a voluntary recall for one of its ice cream bars. Unlike many ice cream recalls, this wasn't due to Listeria concerns. Instead, it was an undeclared ingredient that could be harmful to consumers with an allergy.

On November 17, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream announced a voluntary recall of one of its ice cream products. One batch of the Passion Fruit Dreamsicle Ice Cream Bars was impacted. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, according to the FDA.

Although ice cream is commonly recalled for the risk of Listeria, that wasn't the case with Jeni's Splendid bars. In this recall, the issue was that the ice cream bars may contain undeclared wheat and soy. For consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity, there is a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

You can identify the Passion Fruit Dreamsicle Ice Cream Bars by checking for the following batch code on top of the carton: 25-210. This was the only lot affected.
