The 5 Largest School Districts In Idaho Are Massive

As of January 2023, Idaho ranked 33/50 for education in the United States. According to Scholaroo, it ranks 26th for student success and 20th for student safety, but it holds the 45th ranking spot for school quality, which gives it its final place at 33rd in the nation. Today, we are going to take a look at the largest school districts in Idaho and how they rank.

There are 705 schools in the state of Idaho and in 2022 there were 289,480 students reported to be enrolled.

West Ada School District

The West Ada School District is the largest in the state and also ranks second for best school districts in the Boise area. Located in Meridian, ID, they have 39,322 students and a student-teacher ratio of 18:1. Their overall grade for the district is A-. They scored a B+ in academics with their reading proficiency at 67% and math proficiency at 53%. They are ranked in ninth place for best school district and best teachers in Idaho, and 12th for the best school for athletes. Their average teacher salary is $59,986.

Boise Independent School District

The Boise Independent School District is the second largest in the state with 23,270 students. They have a student-teacher ratio of 15:1. Ranked as the number one school district in the Boise area and fourth for best school districts in the state, this district does well. They also have a high ranking for athletes, ranking fifth best in the state. Their overall grade for the district is an A-, but their academics received a B+ with their math proficiency at 42% and reading proficiency at 56%.

Nampa School District

The Nampa School District is the third largest school district in the state with 13,642 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17:1. Their overall grade is a C+ as they struggle in the following categories; academics, teachers, clubs, and administration. Their academics were graded a C+ with reading proficiency at 41% and math proficiency at 23%

Bonneville Joint School District

The Bonneville Joint School District is the fourth largest district in the state located in Idaho Falls, ID. They have 13,485 students and a student-teacher ratio of 20:1. This district receives an overall grade of B-. They score B's almost all the way across the board except in the sports category, which received an A-. They received a B- in academics with a reading proficiency of 57% and a math proficiency of 41%.

Pocatello School District

The Pocatello School District is the fifth largest district in the state and is also ranked 15th for best districts in Idaho. They have 11,996 students with a student-teacher ratio of 19:1. They received an overall grade of B+ and were also ranked in the top 20 best schools for athletes in the state. Their academics received a B+ with their reading proficiency at 58% and math proficiency at 45%. They also score well in the teachers and sports categories, both of them receiving A's.
