Kids love to play with gross things. They also love to put them in their mouths and would probably eat them if at all possible. Well, why not let them enjoy the best of everything by making edible slime that they can play with?

Here’s how to make edible slime to turn your fun into a delicious treat when you’re done playing.

The secret ingredient is cornstarch. When mixed with condensed milk, cornstarch will give your slime that slimy texture but it’s still completely edible. Add vanilla extract, or any other extract of your choosing, to give your slime a great flavor and smell, and food color to make it attractive and even more fun to play with.

Then heat it, cool it, and give it to your child for hours full of worry free fun…well, that’s if they don’t choose to eat the slime before they are done playing with it!

Slime has been a popular toy for children to play with for years. It was first manufactured by Mattel and introduced in 1976. It was primarily made of guar gum so that it was non-toxic, but certainly not edible.

As Slime grew in popularity, several versions were created including Slime containing rubber insects, eyeballs and worms. There were even Masters of the Universe Slime sets available.

Slime is still a great toy for kids to play with. It doesn’t require batteries and it can let children’s creativity run wild. It can be even more fun if you can whip up a batch with your child before playtime.

Although Slime has been a great toy for many years, it is known for being difficult to remove from surfaces. This recipe can be cleaned from surfaces with soapy water, but it is best to keep it away from furniture and upholstery.

Now that you have this recipe, you can give your child some great indoor fun any time!

Edible Slime Ingredients:

• 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• food coloring
• 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (or your favorite flavor extract)


Directions:

1. In a saucepan over low heat, stir together the milk and cornstarch. Stir and heat until the mixture thickens.

2. Remove from heat. Stir in a couple drops of the food coloring and the vanilla extract. Allow the slime to cool.

3. Once cooled, it's ready to play with.

4. When you are finished playing with your slime, store it in a sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator. Refrigerated slime is good for a couple of days then needs to be discarded. Clean up the edible slime with warm soapy water but keep it away from carpets and upholstery.
