60 Kroger Locations Are Closing: Here's the List of Store Closures
Earlier this year, Kroger had plans to merge with Albertsons. Now, Kroger plans to close 60 stores within the next year and a half. What gives? According to interim CEO Ron Sargent, "not all of our stores are delivering the sustainable results we need." The goal in closing 5% of Kroger stores is to financially benefit the company.
Although Kroger hasn't released the full list of store closures, we do know about some of the stores that are affected. The updated list includes some of the other stores owned by The Kroger Co., such as Mariano's, Harris Teeter, and Pick 'n Save.
This list includes stores in twelve different states, including Georgia, Indiana, and Texas. Here's a look at what we know so far about the Kroger store closings.

Why Is Kroger Closing So Many Stores?
Kroger plans on closing 60 stores total over the next year and a half. Simply put, finances are the reason. The company plans on reinvesting the "modest financial benefit" they expect to receive from the store closings into improving the customer experience at their other stores.
What Will Happen to the Current Employees?
One of the challenges of having so many stores close is the loss of many jobs. According to Kroger, the company will offer all current employees roles at other stores if their current location closes.

Although Kroger has stated they won't be releasing a full list of the 60 stores, we do have a running list with some of the stores that will be closing, along with the anticipated closing dates. Here are the stores we know about so far as of July 2025.
