Gum problems are a symptom of perimenopause due to homonal changes, and previous gum problems can be more pronounced. An increase in bleeding from sensitive gum tissue is also common. A condition called menopausal gingivostomatitis affects a small percentage of women. Gums that look dry or shiny, bleed easily and range from abnormally pale to deep red mark this condition.
