Better Than Sex Cake Recipe

Is This Cake Recipe Better Than Sex?

How do we start a conversation about a cake that's better than sex? By not wasting time beating around the bush, of course. Let's get into the kitchen and get baking.

The Better than Sex Cake was first introduced in the 80’s. When the cake was first created, the original recipe included a chocolate cake mix, a moist center (usually pineapple or another kind of fruit) and a whipped cream topping.

Since then many variations have been made, including those that are similar to an upside down cake. Flavors like vanilla, banana, and candy have also been used. Our version features a white cake, pineapple, vanilla pudding and whipped topping.

Although the Better Then Sex cake was introduced so many years ago, it has recently enjoyed a resurgence. We hope that inspires you to check out our recipe.

Other Cakes to Try After This

While you might not think any cake can be better than this one, there are a number of cakes out there that deserve your attention. Let's check some of them out:

  • Homemade yellow cake. You're probably quite used to buying the boxed variety of yellow cake. Have you ever considered making your own? Homemade yellow cake is arguably a lot better than the boxed variety.
  • Strawberry cake. No, not strawberry shortcake! Strawberry cake still uses strawberries as a main ingredient, but changes up the actual cake recipe. This cake is best made with fresh strawberries.
  • Blackout cake. Unfortunately, this isn't a cake that can be made during a blackout. This cake is a chocolate lover's dream, combining chocolate cake and chocolate pudding together into one dessert.
  • Whoopie pies. Some may call this cheating; we just say they need to open their minds. Whoopie pies are technically cakes. A whoopie pie consists of cream sandwiched between two round chocolate cakes. Kids love these.
  • Caterpillar cake. A caterpillar cake is a great choice for a young child's birthday party. A caterpillar cake is a swiss roll cake decorated to look like a cute caterpillar. Your child will love it!
  • Gingerbread cake. Gingerbread isn't just for cookies! It can also be for cake. This cake has the familiar spiced taste that we all know and love, just in cake form. It's a perfect dessert for your next holiday gathering.
  • Snowball cake. Snowballs are a popular snack cake you can get from stores, but you can also make them at home. Snowball cakes are small half-spheres made out of chocolate cake. They have a cream center, and a marshmallow coating. Finally, they're topped with coconut shavings.
  • Raisin cake. This cake is better suited for breakfast rather than dessert. Made with raisins as a primary ingredient, it tends to not be as sweet as some of the other suggestions on this list. If you're looking to change up your breakfast menu, try this out.
