Other Fun Activities Your Child Can Do
On a rainy day, your child might not have a lot to do. This can cause your child to become cranky, fussy, and bored. A bored child is much more likely to cause trouble, so finding something for them to do is important.
Give your child a blank sheet of paper and some crayons or colored pencils for them to draw on. If they can't decide on what to draw, give them a topic and have them pick something. This will train their fine motor skills and their creativity. You can also turn drawing into a game; give your child five minutes to draw a complete picture of some kind. Your child will find the race against the clock stimulating and fun.
Have your child build a blanket fort! If you're able, help them out. Grab pillows, blankets, and something to support the fort with. Pick a spot in your living room or in their bedroom, and get building! You can make quite the complex blanket fort with only a handful of supplies. Once it's constructed, spend some time inside with your child. Read them a story, or grab your laptop and watch a movie together. Bring some snacks and have fun!
If you have paper plates on hand, you can easily turn these into afternoon crafts for your kids. Sit them down with a paper plate each and some markers. Have them turn the plate into a creative design! Some ideas include Captain America's shield, a turtle shell, or the night sky. Let your kids use their imagination here! Keep some extra paper plates handy in case a mistake is made or someone wants to do a second paper plate design.
