Grilling Basket

Grilling Basket

This grilling basket is a great gift for dad or the guy in your life that loves to man the grill. Start with an apron that fits your guy’s description best (or make your own), wrap the front of it around a deep basket, and fill with various grilling supplies:

•    Specialty marinades and rubs
•    Grilling utensils
•    Kabobs
•    Grill cleaner
•    Grilling hand mitts
•    Burger molds
•    Grill sauté pans

Car Buff Bucket

Car Buff Bucket

This car buff bucket is a great gift for dad or the guy in your life that loves his car almost as much as he loves you. It's also perfect to give to new drivers to help them keep their ride clean.

I found this great bucket with insert to organize everything at TJ Maxx and filled it with supplies from Walmart and TJ Maxx. Good things to add are:

•    Cleaning supplies
•    Waxing supplies
•    Air fresheners
•    Travel coffee mug
•    Ice scraper
•    Buffing products
•    Treated dusting clothes
•    Car magazines
•    Books about cars
•    Tire gauge

The Cook's Canisters

Canister Basket

This is a great gift for mom or for newlyweds or first time home owners.

Start with pretty kitchen canisters then fill the canisters with small items/tools for the kitchen. Some good ideas are:

•    Vegetable peeler
•    Grapefruit spoon
•    Fruit/Veggie saver containers
•    Chip clips
•    Ice cream scoop
•    Cookie dough scoop
•    Baster
•    Measuring cups or spoons
•    Microfiber cloths
•    Paring knife

The ideas are endless here. I like to go to stores like Home Goods or TJ Maxx, where they have lots of gadgets and cute kitchen supplies at great deals. The canisters shown here were purchased at Target.

Camping Basket

Camping Basket

This is a great gift for the dad that loves the outdoors.

Items to include:

•    Cast iron skillet
•    Lanterns
•    Ponchos
•    Swiss Army Knife
•    Marshmallow and weenie roasting sticks
•    Trail mix
•    Beef jerky
•    Lighter
•    To make it a family gift include items such as: family size tent, s’mores ingredients, etc.

Toss everything together in a basket to keep it organized and you’re set. Shop stores like Bass Pro Shop and Walmart to replicate this basket.

Family Breakfast Basket

Family Breakfast Basket

This is a great gift basket to give to a family with kids.

Items to include:

•    Gourmet pancake or waffle mix
•    Specialty syrups, jams, and honey
•    Coffee and flavored syrups, or flavored coffees
•    Coffee mugs
•    Higher end gifts could include: French Press or Waffle Iron

Place everything together in a basket to keep it organized and you’re set. Shop stores like Home Goods and TJ Maxx to replicate this basket, specifically for the special jams and honey.

Family Breakfast Basket

Family Bagel Basket

Family Bagel Basket

Group gifts or family gifts are sometimes a great way to go, especially if you have a large family to buy for or a group, like your pediatrician's office, that you'd like to acknowledge around the holidays.

This bagel basket is perfectly practical for those times.

Items to include:

•    Cutting board and bagel knife
•    Assorted bagels
•    Assorted spreads such as cream cheese (as long as you can keep it cold until handing it off), jams, and honey
•    Small plates, festive napkins, and plastic knives (if it’s going to an office)

Everything goes together into a basket to keep it organized and you’re set. Shop stores like Home Goods and TJ Maxx to replicate this basket, specifically for the special jams and honey.

Christmas Cookie Gift Ideas

Eggnog Cookies

Baked goods are a wonderful gift to give to neighbors, coworkers, or teachers around the holidays. Whether you like to give something homemade and aren't necessarily all that 'crafty' or you're on a budget this year but don't want to skip those important people who help make your life better throughout the year.

Eggnog Snickerdoodle Cookies and Homemade Eggnog in Mason Jars

These homemade Eggnog Snickerdoodle Cookies are light and tasty for someone who doesn't love super sweet cookies. The cookies are really easy to bake if you're a beginner baker. Just pop some in a mason jar or two and pair with homemade (or even store-bought) eggnog. Eggnog (Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Recipes) You can put them in a small basket or a gift bag and surprise your helpful neighbor with a wonderful treat.

Lemon Tea Biscuits in Vintage Tea Cups

Lemon Tea Biscuits in Vintage Tea Cups

This gift is perfect for any tea lover. Browse local antique shops or thrift stores for cute, vintage-looking tea cups and fill with these tasty Lemon Tea Biscuits. You could also try our recipe for homemade Lady Fingers or Russian Tea Cakes, both can be found in our Christmas Cookie Recipes along with hundreds more.

Candy Cane Puffs in a Christmas Tin

Candy Cane Puffs

This cookie is definitely a cute cookie to gift to a teacher or coworker. Pick up a Christmas tin at your local dollar store or you probably even have one laying around from a Christmas passed. A little tip for crushing those candy canes, break them up into a few pieces and toss them in a food processor to get a finer crunch. You can find the recipe for Candy Cane Puffs here (the 5th one down) 'C' Christmas Cookie Recipes

Boxed Brown Sugar Cookies

Brown Sugar Cookies

Brown Sugar Cookies are a great alternative to traditional sugar cookies if you don't like to frost cookies for hours after you've baked all day. Sprinkle with plain granulated sugar or colored and you've got delicious cut-out sugar cookies in a fraction of the time. The brown sugar baked into the cookies instead of granulated is also a tasty change-up. The recipe can be found here  'B' Christmas Cookie Recipes about halfway down the page.

Cookie Bars on a Christmas Plate

Coconut Raspberry Ribbon Squares

Bar cookies and fudge are great for a baked good you can make in batches and slice up portions on festive plates or platters. We chose Coconut Raspberry Ribbon Squares, they're super sweet and delicious. Browse discount stores or end of the season sales for cute Christmas plates and platters to keep on hand for last minute gifts.

Chai Pear Breakfast Cake

3 medium pears, peeled, halved, cored, and sliced
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons ground ginger
¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter, softened
1 egg
½ cup molasses
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup warm strong-brewed chai tea
Greek yogurt, optional
Ground nutmeg, optional

1. Generously coat a 4- to 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Add pears to cooker.

2. In a small saucepan combine the ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup butter, and the ginger. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until the butter melts and sugar dissolves. Pour mixture over pears; stir to coat.

3. In a large bowl beat the ¾ cup brown sugar and the ½ cup butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until thoroughly mixed.

4. Beat in egg. Beat in molasses.

5. In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.

6. Add half of the flour mixture to butter mixture, beating on low until combined.

7. Add chai; mix slightly.

8. Add the remaining flour mixture and beat until combined.

9. Spread mixture evenly over pears in cooker.

10. Place a clean dish towel over top of slow cooker then top cooker with lid. Cook on high-heat setting for 2 to 2 ¼ hours or until a toothpick inserted in center of the cake layer comes out clean. If possible, carefully rotate crockery liner halfway through cooking time to ensure even cooking.

11. Remove crockery liner from cooker, if possible, or turn off cooker. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove lid and towel. To unmold cake, run a butter knife around edge of crockery liner. Place a large plate over and invert cake onto plate. Serve warm or at room temperature. If desired, top each serving with yogurt and sprinkle with nutmeg.
