Health Benefits of Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are often touted as healthier than regular potatoes. They can be easier to get kids to eat, since they have a sweet and pleasant taste. As a parent, you'll appreciate the health benefits that sweet potatoes can offer.

Sweet potatoes have a lot of nutrients in them, with high amounts of vitamins A, C, and B6. Plenty of manganese, copper, and pantothenic acid can be found in sweet potatoes, too. The antioxidants in sweet potatoes help keep your body healthy, and can lower your risk for cancer.

There is a lot of fiber in sweet potatoes. Fiber is crucial for the health of your digestive system. Without a healthy amount of fiber, you'll experience a host of side effects. These can include constipation, bloating, and a potentially higher risk for colon cancer. Sweet potatoes contain both soluble and insoluble fiber.
