Tips For Picking A Baby Name

Having trouble finding the right name? Tired of sifting through hundreds of names just to end up back at the drawing board? Follow these tips to make the process easier.

If you haven't already, look to works of fiction for inspiration. Books, T.V. shows, music, video games, and movies are all excellent sources for baby name inspiration. Naming your child after a favorite fictional character is always a special thing.

When trying to decide between a couple of names, consider the middle names you want to pair with them. Sometimes, thinking about these combinations can help you settle on a first name. Perhaps you're sure you want a certain name as a middle name, and one of the given names you're considering goes best with that middle name.

Don't forget to think about how the first name you're considering will fit with your last name! If you can get your child's whole name to flow well, it will go a long way towards giving them the best name possible. Say your child's first and last name out loud, and then add in their middle name to see how it all fits together.

Don't forget to think about nicknames, too! Every name comes with its own set of nicknames. You may adore a certain given name, but hate some of the common nicknames that are derived from it. Your child will end up with a nickname sooner or later, so make sure you're comfortable with the options associated with their given name.
