If you want an even more authentic Italian taste and don’t mind a few extra calories, the cheese will be the ingredient that takes this dish over the top. Grate a healthy dose of mozzarella, sprinkle with parmesan or add both kinds of cheese to give the recipe ooey, gooey goodness.

Of course, adding cheese isn’t the only way you can change up this recipe. Another way to give it a unique flavor is to prepare it in a slow cooker. This type of preparation will allow the flavors to meld together to give your dish a terrific taste while allowing the chicken to achieve the ideal state of tenderness.

One recipe for Slow Cooker Italian Chicken and Peppers involves slicing up onions and peppers and putting them in a large slow cooker.

Place chicken breast on top of onions and season with salt, pepper, basil, and oregano.

Cover chicken with remaining peppers and onions and cook for four hours on high or eight hours on low. Once cook time is over, the chicken will be tender enough to shred easily.

Serve the mixture over pasta, rice, polenta or on a roll for a great hot sandwich meal.

To prepare the chicken, start by putting it in a bowl with milk and lemon juice poured over the top and refrigerate for 2-4 hours. This will help the chicken achieve the perfect level of tenderness.

Next, create a chicken crust. To do this, combine flour, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and powdered sugar. Drain the chicken from the milk marinade and dip it into the flour mixture coating evenly.

Next, place the chicken strips in a hot skillet heating 3 minutes on each side. Then bake the chicken in the oven for 18-20 minutes.

Now its time to prepare your pasta and make your creamy sauce.

Prepare the pasta of your choice according to package directions.

To make the sauce, use the same skillet as the chicken and add additional olive oil as well as garlic and sun-dried tomatoes.

Sprinkle 1 tbsp of cornstarch over the tomatoes, add chicken broth and whisk until combined. Cook for 5 minutes.

Then mix remaining cornstarch with milk. Add to the broth and continue whisking while adding cream, spinach, salt, and pepper. Turn heat low until spinach wilts and sauce thickens and add parmesan cheese.

Mix sauce with chicken and pasta, serve in a large bowl and enjoy.

This dish is a much more complex recipe that shows how versatile and chicken and pasta dishes can be.
