Meatballs are a great addition to any meal. Though most think of them as a meaty way to serve spaghetti, they can also be eaten in a sandwich or on their own.

Meatballs are often seasoned with oregano and other spices that make them go perfectly with marinara sauce when served in Italian style meals. But for some added kick, you can flavor them with taco seasoning making them ideal for dishes with a Latin flavor.

Moms Who Think has provided you with a great taco meatball recipe your family will love.

Taco Meatballs Recipe

We start with 1 lb. of ground beef, the perfect base for any meatball dish.

We add an egg to bind the meatballs together.

What makes these meatballs unique is the addition of the taco seasoning and the cheddar cheese center. This gives it a Mexican style kick and a spicy flavoring your whole family is sure to love.

And, of course, everything is better with cheddar! This gooey inside surprise will put a smile on anyone’s face.

To make the dish, start by combining the eggs, meat, and seasoning. Then shape the meat into balls around a cube of cheddar cheese.

Arrange on a dish sprayed with nonstick and put it in the oven to bake.

Of course, you can serve taco meatballs with spaghetti and enjoy your pasta with a spicy kick, but for a more authentic take on the dish, try serving it with Spanish rice and roasted green beans.

Other options include eating it in a taco shell or burrito. Some have served it with tortilla chips and queso blanco dip which is another great variation.

Taco meatballs also make a great appetizer. Just serve them on a plate with toothpicks and the dipping sauce of your choice.

Meatballs with Taco Seasoning

Taco seasoning can include a variety of ingredients but one common way to make it is to include chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, and oregano. You can see how this will give the dish a spicy kick.

Although taco seasoning is pretty much a must, when it comes to taco meatballs, recipes can vary in other ways. Our recipe is very basic, but some add onions and peppers to up the flavor and health quotient.

Cilantro can be added in addition to the seasoning. Some even include a biscuit or baking mix in their recipes.

Cheese can be included or not. And when serving, many top the meatballs with a salsa or taco sauce, but here is where you can get adventurous. A great queso sauce or pico de gallo can be ideal as well.

Taco meatballs can also be served in a soup. You can do this by starting with a beef broth base. Then add chili and chili powder to give the dish a unique Mexican flavoring. Include the veggies of your choice to make the soup hearty and healthy.

Taco meatballs are delicious to serve on their own but what’s really great is how well they work in such a variety of dishes. How will you be serving them to your family tonight?
